Licentiate of Local Church Ministry

"The life function of the local church is to love the God who created it – to care for others out of obedience to Christ, to heal those who hurt, to take away fear, to restore community, to belong to one another, to proclaim the Good News while living it out. The church is the invisible made visible."

Licentiate of Local Church Ministry Overview

The Licentiate of Local Church Ministry qualification is specifically designed for people in ministry who are seeking to become advanced in their leadership and people skills. It is also for those wanting to transition into full-time ministry from a volunteer role or secular career.

This qualification allows you to further develop your ministry, leadership skills, biblical and theological knowledge. You will be equipped with the advanced skills required to lead a local church or ministry team.

What is a Licentiate of Local Church Ministry? Licentiate comes from the Latin licentia, “freedom” which is applied in the phrases licentia docendi meaning permission to teach and licentia ad practicandum signifying someone who holds a certificate of competence to practise a profession i.e. ministry, theology or parish life.

Graduates of the Licentiate of Local Church Ministry will be equipped with the skills they need for a wide range of senior leadership and ministry roles. Many graduates go into leadership roles, such as senior pastor, associate pastor or executive pastor, where they are using the leadership, biblical and ministry skills they have developed. Others have gone into key ministry roles, where they are primarily using their highly developed ministry, pastoral, creative and administrative gifts to help their church move forward.

Eyes opening

Rated 4 out of 5
October 12, 2021

I have enjoyed Acts Part 1. It has given me knowledge of what is not so obvious in the Bible. It does not give full accounts of culture, background history, political climate, prejudices, social injustices…etc etc, and nor should it. This has started to open my eyes that there so much more happening behind the scenes and behind the words we read. I have a fuller appreciation of why people act the way they do and what sort of world Jesus and the disciples were living in.

New understanding

Rated 4 out of 5
October 4, 2021

The course has opened my eyes to the world Jesus and his disciples were living in and what the disciples were faced with after Jesus ascended. What I have learned has given me new understanding so that when I read the bible I see beyond the words. I also see the cultures, different belief systems, different historical backgrounds, prejudices and so on. I did not know there were different Jewish groups (so different from each other). I have a greater understanding and appreciation of what the early church experienced. I am still blown away by how pure and merciful God’s heart is in choosing the undeserved to change the world and spread the gospel to the Gentiles. This learning gives me greater encouragement that as undeserved as I am, there is a greater purpose for my life and that I am redeemed through Him for Him.

Awsome study on the book of acts showing theological emphases and also Holy spirit revelations. Just awesome seeing how the apostles moved in the power of the Holy Spirit and just being Holy Sprit Led and not led by their own feelings, in some cases. Also for us to carry it on today and getting a brief understanding of sharing the Gospel in a package which is the message Gospel of Grace, Faith, Jesus, and the Kingdom of God.

I feel very blessed as a result of taking this series of courses. The instructors were all engaging, interesting and highly qualified. I got the sensation that they were having a live one-on-one discussion with me personally, or perhaps in a small group. I learned many theories on church ministry based on cutting edge theological research. But more important, I learned a treasure trove of practical ideas, practices and activities that I can apply in my own ministry immediately to be much more effective in the “real world”, so to speak. I highly recommend this program, without qualification, to anyone who wants to improve his or her ministry skills — regardless of one’s experience or academic background. My God bless you in your valuable service to advancing God’s Kingdom!
